MEET OUR INSTRUCTORS
Beth DeeryBeth Deery has taught Art for six years at Oak Grove Elementary School. She has 14 years experience working as an art educator.
Beth previously taught at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic School in Sandy Springs. Beth grew up in Atlanta attending Sagamore Hills Elementary and Briarcliff High School. She graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography and Art History in 1991. She worked as a photographer for Atlanta Magazine from 1992 to 1995. Beth received a teaching certificate in 1995 from Georgia State University in K - 12 Art. Beth lives in Atlanta with her husband and two daughters. |

Carol Lucas Carol Lucas born in Atlanta. She is a freelance artist. Her work is in several private collections throughout the U.S. In 1975 while touring the Far East she learned about Chinoisrie. When she returned tothe U.S. she studied under the late Mrs Coogle and learned more from the late Mr. Porterfield. Carol has had her work in the Atlanta Decorators Show House, The River Walk Artist Shows in Daytona, Fl. and several banks.
In 1985 she started the Oak Grove Pre School Music program and taught for 12 years. She loves working with young children in the fields of crafts, knitting and sewing. |

Chaffraix RowlesChaffraix Rowles is a certified English Language Arts Teacher in grades 6-12. She taught 9th, 10th and 11th grade English at Chamblee Charter High School for 5 years before leaving to take care of her twin sons.
She graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in English. Chaffraix particularly enjoys reading Shakespeare and Modern American poetry. |

Cristian FarajCristian Faraj is an Atlanta native, and has taught art for 10 years in the DeKalb County School System. He holds a degree in Art Education from Georgia State University, with a concentration in Printmaking. Cristian has served as Art Director for the Dunwoody High School Drama Dept. productions for the past three years. Artistic influences include Rick Griffin and M.C. Escher.

Cynthia CasabonneCynthia graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Visual Communications and Marketing. She lives in Decatur with her husband and three daughters. Cynthia works for Serious Tennis.
Cynthia enjoys art in every aspect of her life -- from retail staging to theatre backdrops. She was taught to sew at an early age and is eager to share her knowledge of this lost art. |

Dean WhiteDean has been teaching Art and Art History to grades 3 through 10 for the past 7 years. He has worked as a freelance designer for over 20 years. Dean was an Art/Creative Director at several national advertising agencies and as a Graphic Design/Illustrator in Detroit. He designs and prints t-shirts for area Scout troops, churches and schools, is an active volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America (ask to see his collection of Pinewood Derby cars!).

LaDoris Bias-DavisLaDoris Davis is a storyteller, consultant and drama coach who has has engaged children in storytelling and Actor's Express for many years. Ms. Davis holds a BA in Speech and Theater Arts and Sociology from the University of Southern Mississippi. She holds a Masters of Science Degree in Early Literacy Education from Nova Southeastern University. She has been the director of The Village School of East Atlanta, a Storytelling and Drama Coach for the City of Atlanta Schools, a Dekalb County teacher, the Director of Davis Love & Care Preschool, and a professional storyteller and trainer-consultant. She is the 2007 Organization of Dekalb Educators Children's Literacy Heroine and has been recognized with many awards including the 2007 Atlanta Business League Business Achievement Recognition Award, the 2010 Jubilee of Reading Heritage Award and the 2011 Seanachie Award.

Susan WaltonMs. Walton has a stong background in fine arts with years of teaching experience. She has initiated and started two vibrant art programs for Dekalb County schools and worked as the Art director for both a summer camp and an afternoon childrens art program. She integrates a study of artists, art history, and art criticism in her studio art classes. She holds both a bachelor's degree in Art concentrating in Painging and Drawing and a bachelor's degree in Interior Design. She has participated in a study abroad program in Cortona Italy. Ms. Walton is an active professional artist as well as an active community volunteer. She has been a Girl Scout Leader, a Flower Show Judge and a PTA cultural arts chairman.

Teresa LibbeyTeresa Libbey is a native of Atlanta, Georgia.
She is a professional artist and art educator who has taught art at Woodward academy, Shamrock Middle School and Tucker Middle schools. Teresa received her MFA from Georgia State University in 1993. Her line of painted silk accessorieswas sold in exclusive boutiques all over the South East and she has taught painting on silk workshops to adults at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center. |

Tracey BuotMrs. Tracey Buot has a career in the fine arts that spans over 20 years. She has an extensive professional acting , directing and design credits and is a committed fine arts advocate. She is committed to providing all her students a performing art foundation. Her professional memberships include the Educational Theatre Association, Actor's Equity, International Thespians, Georgia Art Education Association and the National Art Education Association.
Mrs.Buot earned a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Theatre Performance) from the University of Florida. Mrs. Buot has a Master of Fine Arts (Acting) from the University of Virginia. Her teaching experience include the University of Virginia, Ballet Rotaru, Oak Grove Young Children’s School and The Westminster Schools of Atlanta. Mrs. Tracey Buot currently serves as the Fine Arts Director for Sophia Academy as well as teaches visual art K-8 and middle school drama. |
